This jewellery cleaning foam comes with a small plastic toothbrush to access hard-to-reach areas. While we work on sourcing more eco-friendly alternatives, we encourage you to consider using an old toothbrush instead. Instructions for use

To use the Fairina Cheng cleaning foam:

Remove the lid and pump a small amount directly onto your jewellery. Allow to soak for 10 - 30 seconds.
Use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dirt and grime from hard-to-reach areas, including the underside of settings and bottom of gemstones. The optional brush included with your cleaner or an old toothbrush work well.
Rinse with water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Repeat if necessary.

What gemstones and metals can I use this jewellery cleaner on?

This non-toxic, eco-friendly cleaner is safe for a wide range of metals and gentle enough for delicate vintage pieces and heirloom jewellery. Use it to clean:

Precious gemstones like diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds
Semi-precious stones like topaz, citrine and amethyst
Most delicate gems like turquoise, pearls and opals (see below for exclusions)
Precious metals like gold, silver and platinum
Non-precious metals like costume jewellery (excluding non-waterproof components)

What gems can I use this cleaner on?

Our formula is safe for most stones, including delicate gemstones like opals, pearls and emeralds. However, some gems are not suitable for cleaning or immersion in water. Avoid using it on Ethiopian opals, amber, dyed pearls or stones with non-permanent dyes and treatments. This recommendation is based on these gems being sensitive to water and general cleaning, rather than the formulation of the jewellery cleaner itself.

Can it be used on vintage or costume jewellery?

You can use this cleaning foam on vintage, costume, gold-plated, gold-filled and heirloom pieces without compromising their integrity. As this foam needs to be rinsed with water, it's not suitable for components that are not waterproof or water resistant.

Will this cleaning foam remove tarnish on silver jewellery?

Yes, it works well on light to medium tarnish. On heavier tarnish, we suggest using a silver jewellery polishing cloth first, and then finishing up with the cleaning foam.

Will it remove deliberately blackened or oxidised finishes on jewellery?

As a gentle formula, it's generally safe on deliberately applied patinas and blackened finishes.

How often should I clean my jewellery?
