Simulant alexandrites are a lab created stone, made to resemble the colour change effect of natural alexandrite (a very rare gemstone). Depending on the light, they shift from purple with minty green undertones to purple with warm flashes of burgundy.

There wasn't a photo of the exact colour combination I was after, so Fairina was able to mock up some images to help me visualise and lock something in. I ordered a 18.5cm chain, because that was the only thing left in stock for the color I wanted, but I was able to change it to 17cm via email, which was great. If I had to nitpick, I'd say the design on the back of the gemstone casing is a bit odd--it's a sort of plus-sign-shaped hole. It was facing up when my girlfriend opened the box, so it looked like it was the focal point, and we were confused for a hot sec. Would have preferred if it were just plain smooth metal, if that's possible. It's a beautiful bracelet though."
